In 2011 I got certified to scuba dive. I thought it would be an interesting idea to keep track of all of the animals I encountered while underwater. This idea soon expanded to keeping track of all the wildlife I saw anywhere. I quickly learned that identifying all wildlife to the species level was not as easy as it seemed, as many species look quite similar. The next logical step was to pick up a camera so I could capture the details of each animal so I could carefully look at a still photo and learn the subtle differences that visually separate one species from another. I have photographed over 1300 species in their natural habitat.
My interest in capturing wildlife on film for identification purposes soon expanded into also obtaining a quality photo. I started to include landscapes and other photos as my interest in taking photos expanded. I have taken individual classes through photography shops and online which eventually led me to earning a digital photography degree at SNHU. I have had some of my photos used in news and informational articles and one on a digital album cover. The Whitley Awards chose a couple of my photos to be used in a film and one as the dvd cover to honor wildlife conservationist Jon Paul Rodriguez for his work with the Yellow Shouldered Amazon Parrot. Most recently, Alabama Cooperative Extension Services requested to use a photo on one of their free educational posters about the native turtles of Alabama.
I am currently based in New Jersey, USA but I love to travel. So you will see photos from many places. If you have any questions, comments, or are interested in purchasing a photo, feel free to contact me.
